Privacy

Not legal advice. Have this checked before launch, including whether the ICO data protection fee applies.

Who we are

Placeholder controller: Darren Smith, Pembury, Kent, United Kingdom, the person who runs bokbfok.com. Confirm the legal name and a contact address before launch. Until a mailbox exists, use the contact form on the Join page and choose “Privacy request”.

What we collect

If you use a form, we collect the fields you fill in:

  • Newsletter: name (optional), email, and your consent to be emailed later.
  • Contact: name, email, topic and message.
  • Host a watch-along: name, email, area, venue idea, timing, access notes and message.
  • Mask waitlist: name, email, optional notes, and your consent to be told if it is made.

We do not ask for ethnicity or other special category data, and we don’t want it. Please don’t put it in a message.

The cookie notice stores your Accept or Reject choice in local storage on your device. That is not sent to us. The site does not run analytics and does not set tracking cookies.

Why

To read what you sent, to reply, and — only once a proper list exists, and only if you ticked the box — to email you about fixtures, meetups and stories. The current forms are a placeholder. They do not add you to a mailing list. The basis we intend to rely on for marketing email is consent, with double opt-in still to be connected. Other messages are handled so we can respond to you.

Who else sees it

Form submissions are processed by Netlify, Inc., which hosts the site and the form inbox. Netlify is in the United States. Confirm the international-transfer wording, and Netlify’s role as a processor, before launch. We don’t sell the information, and we don’t pass it to sponsors. There are no sponsors.

How long

Placeholder retention: keep a message until it has been dealt with, and a waitlist entry until you ask us to delete it or the idea is dropped. Agree a real period before launch.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you can ask to see, correct, delete or limit the information we hold, and you can object or ask for a copy. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. That does not affect what was already done with it. You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

To ask, use the contact form and the topic “Privacy request”. Say which right you are using and the email you used on the form.

Children

The site is written for adults. Don’t send us a child’s personal information. Photos of children, if they are ever published, need parental consent.
